How To Measure
Proper measurements are very important to ensure your custom organizer meets your expectations. To get started you will need a good flexible measuring tape with a minimum of 1/8 inch increments.
Begin by measuring along the bottom floor of the drawer at the back edge, middle, and front edge. Check for variations across the height of the drawer as well. Take the smallest of these measurements.
Repeat this step for the depth measurement on the left edge, middle, and right edge across the floor and the height. If there are any obstructions such as screw heads, reduce the measurement by 1/4 inch (or more depending on the obstruction).
Measure the height of your drawer from the drawer floor to the upper edge, typically you will want your custom organizer to be shorter than the height of the walls of your drawer box. 1/2 to 3/4 of the height of the drawer measurement is a great place to start.
Remember to subtract 1/8" to 1/4" from your measurements for your final input dimensions to ensure proper clearance when installing your custom organizer.

Design Considerations
If you are designing a drawer organizer that will be taller than the walls of your drawer box, make sure to measure the opening of the drawer to ensure you have enough clearance. A taller drawer organizer may be difficult to install if your drawer does not extend all the way, take this into consideration when choosing your organizer height.
Obstructions on the inside of your drawer will impact your measurements. Make note of any hardware or screws that will impact the dimensions of your organizer and adjust accordingly.
