Get your grill on!

Get your grill on!

by Nishanth Mar 18 2024
Are you ready for grilling season?

It is that time again… can’t you just smell the steaks on the grill and hear the laughter?  I don't know about you, but I am ready to usher in sunshine and green grass!

What does Spring mean to you?  For us it is grilling, spending more time with the animals (of which we have many!) and just breathing in the fresh air.  The longer days mean we don't have to wait for the weekend to hang out on the farm -- we can hit the patio after work for an amazing sunset and a grass-fed burger -- even the dog seems happier!

Last weekend we officially kicked off the season by getting new patio furniture (long overdue) and grilling our first round of Spring burgers.  But first, we had to do a little prep work.  The grill needed cleaned and the grilling supplies needed inventoried.  We are now ready for grilling anytime the mood hits -- which for us, is often.   Dinner is not just the next chore on the list when you grill.  It's an event!

Do you have what you need to get grilling?

Grilling Organizer

Check out this quick list of some of the basics:

  • tongs
  • spatula
  • basting brush
  • long fork
  • grill brush
  • your favorite seasonings
  • your go-to marinades and sauces
  • smoke chips
  • aluminum foil

And of course you are going to need the food!

We designed a custom organizer for a drawer in our kitchen that is dedicated to grilling.  The organizer has a place for all of our go-to grilling stuff.  Now even my husband can find stuff without asking!  (Can you hear the choir singing?)

What are your favorite grilling recipes?  Basic burgers and brats or something more elaborate?  A staple recipe for us is chicken breasts marinated in Allegro and then grilled for fajitas.  Easy and yum!  We also love cutting up veggies like potatoes, carrots, onions, celery and zucchini and putting them in the grillling basket.  They go great with almost anything we grill.  Once the garden comes in, we will grill whatever needs picked!  I figure the more stuff we throw on the grill, the fewer dishes to wash and the cleaner my kitchen stays!  Now that sounds like Spring to me!

Share your favorite grilling recipes with us!  We love trying new things!
